Emirati ambassador in Argentina, Saeed Alqemzi, held an “Iftar,” at the diplomatic headquarters in Buenos Aires.
It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, respected by Muslims around the world as the month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community in the pursuit of spiritual and moral improvement. The Emirati ambassador in Argentina, HE Saeed Alqemzi, held an “Iftar,” the evening meal with which the daily fast during Ramadan is broken, at the diplomatic headquarters in Buenos Aires.
This Islamic celebration commemorates the first revelation to Muhammad. The breaking of the fast is done communally, which is why representatives of different religious creeds, national and provincial authorities, business leaders, and representatives of various institutions were invited to the event. Ambassador Alqemzi emphasized the importance of the gathering: “The Ramadan tables are an integral part of the customs and traditions of my country, and we are happy to share this special experience with you year after year, as this tradition in the Emirates is characterized by being a reflection of the diversity that exists in the country.”
In a gesture of brotherhood and coinciding with Holy Week, Ambassador Alqemzi extended his wishes for peace and renewal: “To our Christian brothers and sisters, we wish a Happy Easter, hoping that this time will be one of peace, love, and hope for a better future for everyone.”
The religious event symbolizes the continuity of a significant cultural practice while strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between nations and various religious beliefs.
