JUNE 2/2024-In a ceremony steeped in tradition and international protocol, Chile’s Ambassador to Oman, Roberto Ebert, presented his credentials to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The event took place at the magnificent Al-Baraka Palace in Muscat, where seven other ambassadors also participated in this significant diplomatic ritual1.
The Formal Exchange
As the sun bathed the palace courtyard, Ambassador Ebert stepped forward, carrying the official letters from the President of Chile. These letters, known as “cartas credenciales,” serve as both a formal introduction and a testament to the ambassador’s authority to represent their home country. They symbolize the establishment of diplomatic relations between Chile and Oman.
Sultan Haitham, resplendent in traditional Omani attire, received Ambassador Ebert with warmth and grace. The Sultan expressed his appreciation for Chile’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and conveyed his best wishes for the ambassador’s tenure. In return, Ambassador Ebert conveyed Chile’s eagerness to collaborate with Oman in various fields, including trade, culture, and tourism.
