The outgoing ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the United Arab Emirates, José Agüero Ávila, received the decoration conferred by the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the Medal of Independence of the First Order.
According to the official report, this recognition is granted to him for his efforts and contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Paraguay and the United Arab Emirates during his mission as ambassador to the country, on the occasion of the end of his term as such.
The medal was presented by the Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy, in a meeting held at the headquarters of the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Through his social media, Paraguayan ambassador Agüero Ávila expressed gratitude for such a high distinction. “I am deeply honored to receive the Medal of Independence, First Class, granted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, in recognition of my work as Ambassador,” he posted.
José Agüero Ávila has been the first resident ambassador of Paraguay in the United Arab Emirates since June 2022, and in that capacity, he was responsible for opening the national diplomatic representation in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati capital
