Dubai International Chamber Organizes “Expansion Lab” to Prepare UAE Companies for Global Market Entry
DUBAI, 30th September, 2026 – The Dubai International Chamber, operating under the Dubai Chambers umbrella, recently hosted an impactful event titled the “Expansion Lab” in a bid to equip UAE companies with essential knowledge and tools necessary for successful ventures into the global market. This event is a critical element of the New Horizons initiative, offering Dubai-based companies unique opportunities to partake in international trade missions carefully curated to explore burgeoning business prospects and forge new international partnerships.
The event saw participation from 21 Dubai-based companies, all owned by UAE nationals exhibiting significant growth potential. These companies are on the lookout for opportunities to transcend beyond domestic business arenas and establish a foothold in international markets. The focal points of the Expansion Lab included helping participants evaluate their readiness for international growth, pinpointing areas necessitating additional development, and providing a pragmatic framework for sustained growth on the global stage.
“**We are committed to supporting UAE companies as they expand their operations and strengthen their presence in global markets, equipping them with the knowledge, expertise, and connections they need,” commented Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations of Dubai Chambers. “This helps them identify promising opportunities and make informed decisions about international expansion, reflecting our broader commitment to fostering a supportive environment that enables companies to capitalize on international opportunities, strengthen their competitiveness, and achieve sustainable growth.**”
Key industry players such as DP World, Dubai Trade—the digital commercial arm of DP World in the GCC—Wio Bank, and SGS Gulf Limited, a firm specializing in compliance, testing, and inspection services, participated in the event. Their involvement ensured the session was rich in practical insights, real-world examples, and devised recommendations to aid companies in transforming global expansion opportunities into viable plans.
The event featured an engaging discussion centered around the operational and strategic capabilities which define globally competitive companies, embellished with tangible examples of export and international expansion pathways. Key areas of discussion ranged from pinpointing market opportunities, selecting apt market-entry strategies, to regulating international operations and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Participants ventured into a comprehensive exploration of the end-to-end journey entailed in international expansion, accentuating pivotal decisions and success determinants that culminate in successful market entry. Discussions encompassed evaluating and identifying target markets, opting for suitable entry strategies, and decisions regarding distributors, agents, direct sales, logistics setup, warehousing, and in-country partnerships.
Further, aspects relating to commercial and operational considerations essential when infiltrating new markets—such as pricing, landed costs, Incoterms, payment terms, customs procedures, compliance requirements, documentation, and certification—were extensively discussed. The session underscored the support offered to companies throughout this trajectory, inclusive of facilitating market access, trade facilitation, logistical solutions, customs support, and digital trade services conducive to international growth.
A noteworthy component of the event was an interactive roundtable where participants communicated the practical challenges encountered during their international expansion endeavors and consulted a panel of experts for guidance.
The New Horizons initiative stands as a vital platform offered by the Dubai International Chamber to render tactical support to UAE companies ambitiously seeking to embark on new market ventures and fortify their international presence.
