As part of the Innovation Summit Chile–Dubai 2025 and the country’s participation at GITEX Global, a high-level meeting took place at the Majlis of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), the leading UAE governmental entity driving the nation’s technological and research ecosystem.
The Chilean delegation was composed of H.E. Patricio Díaz Broughton, Ambassador of Chile to the United Arab Emirates; Ignacio Fernández, General Director of ProChile; Sharif Chacoff, Trade Commissioner of ProChile UAE; and Pablo Zamora, Executive President of Fundación Chile.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nizar Schekhli, Senior Director of the Innovation Ecosystem at ATRC, and focused on the development of cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), Chile’s exportable technological offering, and opportunities for collaboration to promote the internationalization of Chilean tech-based companies.
Established in 2020, the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) was created to consolidate the UAE’s technological and research ecosystem, align strategy and investment for impactful scientific advancements, and support the country’s transition toward a knowledge-based economy. ATRC is chaired by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and its board includes prominent figures such as H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC Group, and Mr. Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of both ATRC and the Emirates Research and Development Council (ERDC), and Adviser to the President of the UAE on Strategic Research and Advanced Technology.
The ATRC’s operational model focuses on achieving tangible business and investment outcomes, currently managing 10 research centers and 4 startups. The organization expressed its interest in initiatives fostering mutual collaboration, innovation, and applied research with international partners.
This encounter reinforces Chile’s strategic vision of positioning itself as a reliable innovation and technology partner for the UAE and the wider Gulf region — advancing shared goals of digital transformation, sustainable growth, and international cooperation.
