Vice Minister Julio Orozco Drives Foreign Direct Investment, Strengthens Interinstitutional Coordination

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala (Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Guatemala) is ramping up efforts to boost the country’s economic development by reinforcing strategies geared towards attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Julio Orozco, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (#ViceCancillerGT), is at the forefront of this initiative, fostering stronger interinstitutional coordination to position Guatemala as a top-tier investment destination.

In a recent collaboration, Vice Minister Julio Orozco joined Deputy Minister Valeria Prado from the Ministry of Economy to lead a prominent presentation of ProGuatemala. The event brought together Guatemala’s Diplomatic Missions and Commercial Attachés, providing a platform to share the latest strategic actions from the Ministry of Economy, advancements in the Ruta del Chip (Chip Route), and the proactive work of ProGuatemala in attracting capital to the country.

The session spotlighted three strategic pillars:

  • Showcasing Economic Advancements: Representatives outlined the Ministry of Economy’s ongoing and forthcoming projects designed to make Guatemala increasingly competitive on the global stage.
  • Highlighting the Ruta del Chip: This initiative, central to national technology and manufacturing growth, was presented as a promising opportunity for international investors seeking innovation ecosystems.
  • ProGuatemala’s Role in Facilitation: The agency’s efforts to create a favorable climate for investment and promote Guatemala globally came to the fore.

“The presentation of ProGuatemala underscores the strong commitment and partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy to drive sustainable economic development, create quality jobs, and facilitate the inflow of foreign capital,” stated Julio Orozco during the session.

By reinforcing their alliance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy aim to provide greater opportunities for employment, foster sustainable development, and cement Guatemala’s reputation as a destination for quality investment.
