UAE and Ecuador Expand Partnership with Focus on Economic Growth and Cooperation
In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador held high-level talks in Abu Dhabi today. The meeting, which took place at Qasr Al Bahr during President Noboa’s working visit, focused on enhancing cooperation in key sectors including the economy, trade, renewable energy, investment, sustainability, and food security.
Both leaders affirmed their shared commitment to fostering deeper ties and exploring new avenues for joint initiatives. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted that UAE-Ecuador relations date back over 50 years and have made significant progress, especially in development-oriented sectors. He also emphasized the UAE’s interest in deepening its economic partnerships with Latin American nations, stressing the country’s ongoing strategic efforts to achieve shared prosperity across the region.
The dialogue also included an exchange of perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual concern and a reaffirmation of the importance of supporting peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
During the meeting, President Daniel Noboa expressed his appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, reaffirming Ecuador’s firm interest in expanding cooperation in the areas of the economy and investment.
The talks were attended by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; several ministers, senior officials, and members of the accompanying Ecuadorian delegation.
A landmark outcome of the meeting was the conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries, officially exchanged by Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, and His Excellency Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade and Investment of Ecuador.
Additionally, both sides witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Petroecuador. The MoU was formally exchanged by His Excellency Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Her Excellency Inés María Manzano Díaz, Minister of Environment and Energy of Ecuador.
These developments mark an important new phase in UAE-Ecuador relations, paving the way for collaboration on sustainable development, energy innovation, and mutual economic growth.
