Argentina Strengthens Strategic Tourism Ties with the UAE: Daniel Scioli Meets Top Emirates Group Leadership in Dubai

As part of his official agenda ahead of the UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, Argentina’s Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli, held a series of high-level meetings in Dubai aimed at deepening connectivity, investment, and technological cooperation between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates.

In a landmark engagement, Scioli met with H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, and Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline. The dialogue marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral aviation ties and exploring new long-term opportunities for air connectivity.

Toward a Future Direct Dubai–Buenos Aires Flight

During the meeting, Scioli emphasized Argentina’s renewed economic stability, investment climate, and long-term vision under the leadership of President Javier Milei. He highlighted that these conditions are encouraging global partners—such as Emirates—to evaluate a potential direct Dubai–Buenos Aires route.

Emirates currently operates a daily Dubai–Rio de Janeiro–Buenos Aires service. According to Scioli, the introduction of the new Airbus A350 fleet will open the door to broader route expansion and enhanced connectivity with South America.

“Thanks to the stability, security, and confidence that Argentina offers today under President Milei, Emirates is evaluating the implementation of a future direct flight to our country,” Scioli noted.

“The upcoming incorporation of the modern Airbus A350 aircraft will further strengthen our ability to attract international tourism and improve strategic connectivity.”

Meetings with UAE Economic and Tourism Leaders

Beyond aviation, Scioli’s agenda included dialogues with key government leaders shaping the UAE’s global tourism strategy.

He met with H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, to discuss innovation in tourism, artificial intelligence applications, and new opportunities for investment in Argentina’s tourism sector.

The conversation underscored shared priorities such as digital transformation, smart tourism ecosystems, and strengthening bilateral cooperation aimed at increasing visitor flows and joint ventures.

Scioli also held discussions with Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). Their meeting focused on global tourism trends, market strategies, and areas of mutual interest between Dubai and Argentina—both positioned as gateways to major regional destination networks.

A Strategic Agenda Ahead of UN Tourism General Assembly

These engagements form part of Scioli’s comprehensive work agenda ahead of the UN Tourism General Assembly to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Representing Argentina, Scioli is fostering new international partnerships while showcasing the country’s commitment to innovation, global cooperation, and tourism development.

With the prospect of expanded connectivity, increased investment, and enhanced collaboration with one of the world’s most dynamic tourism hubs, Argentina continues to position itself as a strong and reliable partner for the Middle East.
