The inspiration behind ‘1484 by Puro’ is named after its height, which is 1,484 meters above sea level. ‘Puro’ also means “pure” in Latin, as we strive to place purity at the heart of our menu and behind every dish that we create. Tell us about the location of 1484 By Puro. What makes it unique compared to other dining spots in UAE? Our restaurant has one of the most unique locations and views in the UAE, as we are seated at the top of Jebel Jais, at 1,484 meters high! Guests can experience breathtaking and unparalleled scenery of the mountains while soaking in the cooler temperatures there. If you are lucky, you will catch someone on the Jais Flight soaring across the mountain at exhilarating speeds! What role does Jebel Jais play in shaping the restaurant’s identity? This includes honey, dates, olive oil, molasses, teas, and other produce that can be grown on the mountains. The heart of our menus will be done in alignment with the environment that we are in. Are there any signature dishes or ingredients that define 1484 By Puro? Our signature dishes all revolve around the locally sourced ingredients from the mountains, including dates, honey, and teas. This includes our French Toast, which uses local dates jam, our Pistachio Panna Cotta, which is served with honeycomb crisps made with Jais’ honey, and our Artemisia and Butterfly Pea Tea, which are both sourced from Jebel Jais! And finally, we also have the Emirati Latte which uses local dates sauce. Do you incorporate local flavors and ingredients into the menu? Yes, we incorporate local flavors into our menus, and we always try to use locally sourced ingredients and produce in dishes and drinks. This includes using local dates, date molasses, pomegranate molasses, honey, tea, olive oil, saffron, nuts, butterfly pea tea, and Artemisia tea.
