The Government began efforts to form a technological consortium in order to attract international funds to finance scientific research projects in Argentina.
This is one of the axes of the scientific policy of the current administration, which Daniel Salamone, the president of CONICET, had already spoken about.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, accompanied by Salamone, held a working meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Argentina, HE Saeed Abdulla Saif Joula Alqemzi, and the President of the Emirati initiative “Emirates Tech & Invest”, Martín Gonzalo Bueno.
During the meeting, they discussed the interest in creating a technological consortium, made up of scientific experts from CONICET and public and private companies from both Argentina and the Emirates , which could work on projects linked to science, technology and artificial intelligence.
In this context, various sectors of collaboration were identified such as Health (development of applications and products for the area of Health Technology), Agro Technology (development of applications and products for the area of Agrotechnology and BIO), Energy (development of applications and products for the area of Renewable Energy), Defense (development of applications and products for the area of Defense/Cybersecurity), and Artificial Intelligence (development of applications and products for the area of Robotics and AI), among other fields.
At the beginning of the meeting, Foreign Minister Mondino and Ambassador Alqemzi highlighted “the strength and relevance of the bilateral bond between the two countries, which next February will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beginning of their bilateral diplomatic relations.”
Next, there was discussion about a possible alliance for the construction of a technological consortium, made up of scientific experts from CONICET and public and private companies from both our country and the Emiratis, which could work on projects linked to science, technology and artificial intelligence.
In a statement issued by CONICET, they highlighted that “one concept of the alliance would be to explore the needs of the science and technology sector of different entities of the EAU that are open to partnering with CONICET science and technology teams and public sector companies. and private from Argentina and the Emiratis to develop projects that provide solutions in different areas of mutual interest.”
Mondino told the Emirati representative that “CONICET has highly qualified human resources in research and development applied in areas that, if they have investments from the private sector,” could support both the development of the Gulf country and the export profile of Services Based on Knowledge (SBC) of Argentina.
In this sense, the head of CONICET highlighted that the organization has demonstrated in many cases that it produces science of excellence and technological developments with the capacity to generate a direct impact in the area of medicine, industry, communications, energy and many others. fields. “This scientific cooperation alliance between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates can open many more opportunities in that direction,” he concluded.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of Cultural Affairs, María Alejandra Pecoraro, the Undersecretary of Export Promotion, investments, Education, Science and Culture, Ramiro Velloso, and the Director of the National Directorate of International Cooperation, Mateo Estremé. and Nora Capello.
At the end of the meeting, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates invited Salamone to visit the Asian country, “to make contact with the Scientific and Technological system, with the parties agreeing that Martin Bueno, with residence in both countries, will officiate “Liasson” of this initiative, between Argentina and UAE.
