Sharjah, 24th July 2026 – Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, unveiled the launch of the 10th Al Dhaid Date Festival on Thursday evening at Expo Centre Al Dhaid. The highly anticipated festival, curated by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, showcases a robust presence of over 100 companies and institutions spanning both the public and private sectors. The event also attracts prominent date palm farmers and producers, along with local and federal entities across the UAE. This year, the festival has marked a 30% increase in participation compared to its preceding edition.
Commencing on July 23 and concluding on 26, the festival witnessed the participation of a diverse audience, including Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, senior officials, dignitaries, residents from the Central Region, and esteemed date palm proprietors.
Al Awadhi has asserted that the current edition’s growth has necessitated an expansion in the exhibition space to better accommodate the surging numbers of exhibitors, visitors, and participating organizations. Al Awadhi further detailed that the festival’s tenth edition has introduced several updates to its competitions, welcoming new varieties like Khunaizi and Shishi into the “Date Beauty Contest.” Additionally, a novel competition focusing on “Red Figs” was launched, alongside varied activities and competitions specifically crafted for children and women.
The Director General, (quote by Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi) highlighted that the festival integrates a programme of seminars and awareness workshops aimed at date palm farmers and producers. These sessions are designed to spotlight the finest date varieties within the UAE while promoting sustainable cultivation practices.
The overarching aim of the festival is to champion agricultural heritage and reinforce the connections between new generations and the revered date palm.
