Dominican Republic to Host the Second Regional Edition of the World Government Summit in Cap Cana
Santo Domingo – The Republic of the Dominican Republic is set to become the epicenter of governmental innovation and digital transformation as it has been officially confirmed as the host country for the second regional edition of the World Government Summit (WGS). The anticipated event will take place on November 20 and 21, 2026, in the luxurious location of Cap Cana.
During an official meeting held in the Salón Embajadores del Palacio Nacional, President Luis Abinader announced that the summit will return to the country, with expectations to double the number of participants compared to previous editions. This gathering will further consolidate the Dominican Republic’s status as a regional benchmark in innovation and governmental advancement, attracting heads of state and high-ranking officials from across the region.
Mohamed Al Sharhan, the Director General of the World Government Summit Organization, expressed appreciation for the support received from the Dominican Government for making the event possible in the country.
Highlighting the significance of this occasion, the President emphasized that this will be the second time the landmark event is held outside of Dubai, following the successful staging of its first international edition last year in Punta Cana.
Minister of Housing Víctor “Ito” Bisonó announced that the process of sending invitations and socializing the regional event will commence in the coming days. The summit aims to gather presidents, ministers, senior officials, and representatives from Central America, the Caribbean, and other countries in the region, stimulating dialogue and the exchange of best practices in governance.
