Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed and President Lula da Silva Discuss Strengthening UAE–Brazil Strategic Partnership at BRICS Summit
RIO DE JANEIRO, 6th July 2025 – In a significant step towards enhancing ties between the United Arab Emirates and Brazil, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit.
At the outset, President Lula da Silva extended a warm welcome to the Crown Prince and his accompanying delegation, highlighting the strength and depth of the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations. During the meeting, Sheikh Khaled conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Lula da Silva, accompanied by heartfelt wishes for the President’s continued health and the enduring prosperity of Brazil and its people.
Sheikh Khaled expressed profound appreciation for the generous hospitality and warm welcome extended to the UAE delegation. He reaffirmed the UAE’s pride in its strategic relationship with Brazil, emphasizing the pioneering partnership built on decades of cooperation, mutual respect, and shared interests.
Sheikh Khaled underscored that the 50-year bond between the UAE and Brazil is a testament to the vision of leadership in both countries, focused on fostering collaboration across vital sectors and advancing inclusive and sustainable development for mutual benefit.
President Lula da Silva, in turn, requested that Sheikh Khaled convey his greetings to the President of the UAE and his best wishes for the UAE’s enduring success and development.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the ongoing progress of UAE-Brazil relations, marking a five-decade journey distinguished by sustained coordination and fruitful cooperation. Both sides underscored their shared commitment to advancing the partnership in priority sectors, in line with mutual interests and evolving development objectives.
The discussions were attended by notable dignitaries including Reem Al Hashimy (Minister of State for International Cooperation), Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi (Minister of Foreign Trade), Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh (Minister of State), Saif Saeed Ghobash (Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince), Maryam Eid AlMheiri (Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Media Office and Advisor of Strategic Relations at the Crown Prince Court), and Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi (Ambassador of the UAE to Brazil).
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further elevate bilateral cooperation as a solid foundation for expanded engagement across vital sectors, in support of sustainable development goals and shared ambitions.
