Mercosur Private Sector Ups Its Game: REM Industries Inaugurates New Plant, Raises Investment to US$ 75 Million
REM Industries, a major player in the electrointensive sector, has officially inaugurated its new plant in Limpio, Paraguay, marking a significant milestone for the private sector within Mercosur. The company, backed by US$ 45 million already invested and further plans to expand with an additional US$ 30 million, aims to solidify its position as a key producer of silicon alloys destined for the United States and Europe.
Just 18 months ago, a consortium of young Paraguayan entrepreneurs, together with partners from Brazil and Argentina, broke ground on this ambitious project. The formal opening of the complex—powered by **Energías del Paraguay S.A. (EPSA)**—was celebrated in a special ceremony on Friday, attended by the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña.
According to reports, the REM plant stands as a complex electrointensive facility constructed with capital from Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. With this latest announcement of investment, the plant is set to double its current production capacity, reinforcing its commitment to industrial advancement and export growth in the region.
