Latin American Leaders Express Solidarity with the UAE

Several leaders from Latin America have reached out to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates to express solidarity and reaffirm their support for the country during a period of regional tension in the Middle East.

According to official communications, the presidents of Gustavo Petro of Colombia and Santiago Peña of Paraguay, as well as Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez, held telephone conversations with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing their countries’ concern over recent developments in the region and their commitment to stability and dialogue.

During the conversations, the leaders reaffirmed their respect for the sovereignty and security of the UAE and emphasized the importance of maintaining international cooperation and diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.

President Gustavo Petro highlighted Colombia’s commitment to peaceful solutions to international disputes and stressed the importance of dialogue among nations in times of heightened geopolitical tension. Colombia and the UAE have strengthened their diplomatic and economic relations in recent years, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, and sustainable development.

Similarly, Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña conveyed his government’s solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people, reiterating Paraguay’s support for stability in the Gulf region. Paraguay and the UAE maintain growing bilateral ties, with cooperation expanding in sectors including agriculture, food security, and investment.

In a separate communication, Delcy Rodríguez, acting president of Venezuela, also expressed support for the United Arab Emirates and emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty and pursuing diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.

The calls from the three Latin American leaders underscore the growing diplomatic engagement between Latin America and the Gulf region, particularly with the UAE, which has become a key partner for many countries in the Western Hemisphere in areas ranging from trade and energy to infrastructure and technology.

The United Arab Emirates continues to maintain strong diplomatic relations across Latin America, reflecting a broader strategy of strengthening political and economic ties with emerging markets and strategic partners around the world.

As international leaders continue to engage in dialogue during this sensitive moment, the messages of support from Latin America highlight the importance of global cooperation and diplomacy in maintaining stability and promoting peace.
