MELIFEN is a vertically integrated company operating as growers, packers, and exporters, with an established presence in international markets since 2015. Exporting to Europe, Asia, and South America, the company manages its own orchards and processing facilities, allowing it to maintain the highest quality standards across every stage of production. Recognized globally by its customers as a trusted supplier, MELIFEN has built its reputation on the consistent delivery of premium-quality products. In this interview, Fernanda Massa shares insights into the company’s production model, quality focus, and international market approach.
- Could you introduce Melifen and its multi-product offering?
Melifen is a Chilean exporting company with more than 15 years of international experience. We are growers, packers, and exporters, which allows us to control the entire value chain—from the orchards to the final shipment.
Over the years, we have built a strong international presence, supplying markets in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
We specialize in premium walnuts, dried plums, almonds, and hazelnuts, with a strong focus on quality, traceability, and long-term partnerships.
Our multi-product offering enables us to meet diverse market needs from a single origin, combining efficiency, consistency, and flexibility. From raw materials to finished, export-ready products, Melifen delivers reliable and tailored solutions for distributors, processors, and retailers worldwide
- How do you manage quality in nuts and dried plums?
Quality management at Melifen begins in the orchards and continues throughout the entire production and export process. We work closely with our growers, apply strict selection criteria, and use controlled processing systems to preserve flavor, texture, and nutritional value.
Each batch is monitored through rigorous quality controls, ensuring food safety, consistency, and compliance with international market requirements.
- What advantages do hand-cracked and machine-cracked walnuts offer?
Offering both hand-cracked and machine-cracked walnuts allows us to meet different customer expectations.
Hand-cracked walnuts provide superior appearance, larger halves, and minimal damage—ideal for premium and retail segments. Machine-cracked walnuts, on the other hand, offer efficiency, consistency, and competitive pricing, making them suitable for industrial and high-volume applications.
This dual capability gives our clients greater flexibility and tailored solutions.
- Which certifications support your export operations?
Our export operations are supported by internationally recognized certifications such as HACCP, BRC, and other food safety and quality standards, depending on the product and market.
These certifications reflect our commitment to food safety, traceability, sustainability, and continuous improvement, giving our partners confidence in every shipment.
- What kind of partnerships are you looking to develop in the Gulf region?
In the Gulf region, we are looking to build long-term strategic partnerships with importers, distributors, and food industry players who value quality, reliability, and consistent supply.
We are especially interested in collaborations that allow us to grow together, adapt products to regional preferences, and develop customized solutions for both retail and food service markets.
