President Santiago Peña Meets Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to Deepen Strategic Ties

Abu Dhabi, May 26, 2025 – In a powerful demonstration of Paraguay’s expanding international engagement, President Santiago Peña was received today by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. The official meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing the bilateral relationship between Paraguay and the UAE, two nations aligned in their pursuit of sustainable development and economic diversification.

During the discussions, both leaders emphasized their shared commitment to strategic cooperation in key areas, including economic development, renewable energy, food security, trade, and climate action—sectors where Paraguay’s potential continues to gain global recognition.

President Peña’s visit comes at a moment of growing momentum for Paraguay on the world stage. With its rich natural resources, clean energy matrix, and stable investment climate, Paraguay is positioning itself as a valuable partner for Gulf nations seeking new growth frontiers and long-term collaboration.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s intent to strengthen ties with Latin American countries, specifically highlighting Paraguay as a key partner in advancing mutual interests and contributing to regional and global progress.

The dialogue also covered pressing global issues, including efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond. The meeting underscored the importance of diplomatic cooperation in addressing today’s shared challenges.

President Peña expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s warm hospitality and praised the country’s remarkable progress, innovation, and global vision—values that resonate with Paraguay’s own aspirations for inclusive and sustainable growth.

The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials and members of the Paraguayan delegation, reinforcing the strong institutional support for this growing partnership.

Paraguay’s presence in the Gulf is no longer a distant aspiration—it is a reality unfolding, marked by diplomacy, opportunity, and shared vision.
