At this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), Sertecpet, a born Latin American company and now global, specializing in the oil and gas sector, captivated attendees with a dynamic presentation of its latest technological advancements. Representing Latin America’s strength in energy solutions, Sertecpet’s booth was designed to highlight their innovative approaches in sustainable and efficient oil extraction, enhancing safety and operational productivity within the industry.
A Platform for Innovation: Sertecpet’s Exhibit at ADIPEC
Sertecpet’s display was a testament to the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of energy technology. With an impressive array of models, interactive screens, and expert representatives on-site, visitors were invited to explore the company’s diverse portfolio of solutions aimed at overcoming some of the industry’s most pressing challenges. From next-generation extraction methods to energy-efficient solutions that reduce carbon emissions, Sertecpet’s exhibit demonstrated the company’s proactive role in supporting the industry’s energy transition.
One of the main attractions was Sertecpet’s proprietary technology in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), which has been engineered to maximize oil extraction while minimizing environmental impact. This technology allows operators to extend the lifespan of oil wells and enhance output in fields where conventional methods have proven less effective. By focusing on sustainable and high-yield extraction techniques, Sertecpet showcased how innovation can be aligned with global sustainability goals.
Cutting-Edge Solutions for a Global Industry
A significant highlight was Sertecpet’s emphasis on technology-driven monitoring and safety systems, which optimize operations and ensure higher standards of safety across projects. As digital transformation continues to reshape the oil and gas industry, Sertecpet has embraced this trend, integrating advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and IoT devices in their operations. Visitors at the booth could engage with demonstrations of these technologies, giving them a firsthand look at the ways data and real-time analysis are becoming central to modern energy operations.
Additionally, Sertecpet’s on-site team provided live explanations of how their solutions are custom-designed for various geographic and operational contexts, reflecting the company’s adaptability to different market needs and conditions. This adaptability has positioned Sertecpet as a preferred partner for oil companies across Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, as they seek to adopt advanced solutions for evolving energy demands.
A Vision of Sustainability and Global Expansion
Through its participation in ADIPEC, Sertecpet underlined its vision of an industry that combines robust performance with sustainable practices. Representatives spoke about the company’s commitment to innovating within the oil and gas sector while also respecting the environment and communities where they operate. Interview with Eduardo Lopez Robayo, Chairman of SERTECPET Group,at ADIPEC.
Engineer Eduardo López, a visionary leader in the energy sector, has dedicated over three decades to revolutionizing the oil and gas industry in Latin America and beyond. As the Chairman of SERTECPET Group, he has leveraged his extensive experience in both public and private sectors to drive innovation, sustainability, and technological advancements. Under his leadership, SERTECPET has become a prominent player in the global energy market, renowned for its commitment to excellence and disruptive innovation.
In this exclusive interview with Latin&Gulf at ADIPEC 2024, López shares insights into the dynamic landscape of the oil and gas sector, the role of technology in optimizing production, and SERTECPET’s strategic initiatives and experiences showcase Sertecpet technology at the ADIPEC 2024.-
Could you tell us a little about the experience you’ve had over the past three days at the exhibition, and now, on the last day, what conclusions can you draw?
Eduardo: it’s important to mention that ADIPEC has become the global hub for exhibitions, conferences, technology, and innovation in the oil and gas sector. It’s a strategic point not only for the oil and gas industry but also for energy in general, as there is a lot of discussion around new energies and the challenges of the energy transition. I would say it’s a gathering of experts where individuals and companies are making disruptive changes in technology, and there is a great opportunity to present innovative solutions that aim to reduce emissions and add value to customers by optimizing costs.
For us, this is our third consecutive year at ADIPEC, and with more than 180,000 visitors, it gives us a huge opportunity to connect with many companies not only from the Middle East but also from Africa and Asia. What has been most significant for Sertecpet is the ability to showcase our technology up close to clients from Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and some African countries. Here, they can see firsthand the added value of our tools, the expertise of our engineers, and the high standards of quality and certifications we work with. By using our products and services, these clients are guaranteed successful results that optimize their production systems, exploration, well testing, and other solutions for both onshore and offshore operations.
Additionally, Sertecpet is the only Ibero-American brand at ADIPEC with global patents in key areas like artificial lift, well production testing, and downhole tool solutions with new technological applications. We are committed to reducing emissions, aligning with the commitment I made at COP26 to achieve a zero-emission industry by 2050.

Sertecpet is recognized throughout Latin America as an innovative company, especially for the patents it has developed internationally. Have any of these innovations been presented at this exhibition?
Eduardo: Yes, indeed. This exhibition has been the perfect showcase to present our products and success stories. For example, we conducted an initial test with one of our patents at Aramco, which yielded very positive results. We’ve also had successful collaborations with several clients in Egypt, who have shown great interest in our solutions. ADIPEC is an ideal space to demonstrate live and in person how our tools work, the results we’ve achieved, and the success stories where we have significantly reduced costs for our clients and improved their recovery or production restart times.
Finally, what are the challenges and goals for the coming year, looking ahead to 2025?
Eduardo: Our first challenge is to complete a second technological test at Aramco in the coming days and to finalize a proposal with ADNOC. It is very motivating for us to be able to present these success stories, as we are confident they will be of great interest to them. Another one of our objectives is to present several papers and participate in technical conferences, looking for spaces to present them through the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), which is an important technological body that promotes new and advanced technologies.

Furthermore, we are working on consolidating our operations in the Middle East, particularly in Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and North Africa, including Algeria, Egypt, and Libya, and possibly Mauritania.
I want to emphasize that for Sertecpet, having a presence in the UAE is not only about complying with local value-added regulations but also about our commitment to the countries we operate in. We are deeply focused on training and hiring local personnel and generating local industry and technological value in each country. We do this not just because of regulatory obligations but because we are committed to contributing to the development of each of these countries, bringing the know-how and experience of our brand to every market where we operate.
