UAE and Dominican Republic Deepen Ties at World Governments Summit-Latin American and Caribbean Dialogue
SANTO DOMINGO, 6th October 2025 — Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, conducted several bilateral meetings with senior officials from the Dominican Republic during the inaugural World Governments Summit – Latin American and Caribbean Dialogue (WGS-LAC Dialogue) in Punta Cana on 2nd and 3rd October.
Al Kaabi, joined by representatives from leading UAE organisations and businesses, met with Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic and investment opportunities between the two nations.
At the centre of this high-level engagement, President Abinader and Al Kaabi attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the World Governments Summit and the Centro de Análisis para Políticas Públicas. This agreement underscores the increasing collaboration between the UAE and the Dominican Republic, while also establishing a platform for greater cooperation across the broader Latin America and Caribbean region.
Further reinforcing ties, the UAE’s minister met with Victor Bisonó, Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs of the Dominican Republic. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation across strategic economic sectors. Both sides explored new educational initiatives and cultural exchange programmes designed to equip professionals with vital skills for fast-growing industries and to fortify people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Al Kaabi’s participation at the WGS-LAC Dialogue highlights the UAE’s commitment to developing robust partnerships across the Caribbean and Latin America through enhanced cooperation in key sectors such as economy, education, and cultural exchange, all aimed at driving mutual prosperity and understanding.
The WGS-LAC Dialogue convened leaders in government, business, technology, philanthropy, and thought leadership from Latin America and the Caribbean, alongside their MENA region counterparts. The summit fostered enduring ties, identified shared priorities, and explored new opportunities for collaboration between the two dynamic regions.
