He said that the anniversary presented an excellent opportunity to set new goals for the relationship and to strengthen the political dialogue and coordination in international forums

Ambassador Aníbal Gómez Toledo, Mexico’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia with concurrent accreditation to the Sultanate of Oman, visited Muscat, Oman to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He delivered a message of friendship from the Mexican government to Undersecretary al-Harthy during a commemorative ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ceremony brought together Undersecretary for Political Affairs Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harthy and officials from the Omani Foreign Ministry. The message expressed Mexico’s commitment to strengthening relations between the two nations.

On behalf of the Mexican government, Ambassador Gómez Toledo thanked Oman for its valuable efforts in securing the release of Mexican sailors who were kidnapped and held in Yemen for 14 months. He commended the distinguished role that Omani diplomacy plays as a mediator and promoter of peace and stability in the region.

The ambassador noted that the anniversary is an excellent opportunity to set new goals in the bilateral relationship, focused on strengthening the political dialogue and coordination in international forums, as well as expanding development cooperation in economic, commercial, tourism, academic and cultural areas.

Undersecretary al-Harthy noted Oman’s desire to strengthen its relationship with Mexico at all levels. He emphasized the shared values between the two nations and their mutual commitment to building a partnership based on respect and understanding.

The ceremony featured the unveiling of the commemorative logo for the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations. Both sides reaffirmed their interest in continuing their collaboration for the benefit and prosperity of both peoples.
