UAE Removed from Brazil’s Preferential Tax Jurisdiction List, Marking Milestone in Bilateral Economic Relations
The Ministry of Finance has announced a major achievement in international economic diplomacy: the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been officially removed from the Federative Republic of Brazil’s list of jurisdictions with preferential tax regimes. This key development highlights the UAE’s strong commitment to the highest global standards of tax transparency and financial governance.
This decision also reflects the depth and maturity of economic and trade relations between the UAE and Brazil. Dedicated technical teams from both countries collaborated intensively to fulfill the stringent tax transparency and investment standards established by Brazilian authorities. The announcement is the culmination of a sustained technical dialogue rooted in strategic alignment and partnership.
Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, stated:
“Removing the UAE from Brazil’s list of jurisdictions with preferential tax regimes reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment to implementing best practices and international standards in its tax and financial frameworks. This step is a testament to the success of UAE diplomacy in building partnerships based on transparency and mutual trust.”
He further emphasized:
“We view this achievement as a launchpad for further strengthening economic cooperation with Brazil and unlocking new opportunities for mutual investment that serve both nations’ ambitions for comprehensive and sustainable economic development. We will continue working to deepen bilateral ties and activate strategic initiatives that benefit the economies and people of both countries.”
The UAE holds the distinction of being the leading destination for Brazilian exports among Arab countries, with bilateral trade totaling over US$ 4.3 billion in 2024, making Brazil the UAE’s largest trading partner in South America. Both nations remain fully committed to utilizing all opportunities to deepen their economic collaboration.
The removal from Brazil’s list is poised to further accelerate bilateral cooperation, especially in priority sectors such as trade and investment. It also aligns with both countries’ sustainable development goals and reinforces the UAE’s position as a global business hub.
This achievement stands as a signal milestone in UAE-Brazil relations, showcasing a shared vision anchored in tax transparency, robust governance, and active support for initiatives that drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
