Kuwait- January 2025: Colombia’s non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait, Luis Miguel Merlano, presented his credentials to His Excellency Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
During this visit, the Ambassador held a productive dialogue with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Director of the Americas Geographic Area, and the Head of the Colombia Desk.
This meeting addressed key initiatives to strengthen the bilateral relationship, including:
- Establishing a mechanism for political consultations to periodically review mutual priorities and international contexts.
- Expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as education, culture, sports, energy, infrastructure, and health.
- Exploring investment opportunities in port infrastructure through collaboration between national and regional entities.
- Promoting Colombia’s potential as an investment destination for the Kuwait Sovereign Wealth Fund, particularly in energy and agribusiness.
- Organizing the first bilateral business forum, led by ProColombia and the Colombian Embassy, to foster two-way trade missions.
- Extending a warm invitation to Kuwaiti nationals and their counterparts to visit Colombia, the land of beauty, and discover its rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and diverse opportunities.
This meeting marks a significant milestone in Colombia’s foreign policy diversification strategy and in strengthening ties with Kuwait and the Gulf region.
