His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, recently met with Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok, a globally renowned social media platform.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai’s commitment to fostering partnerships with global media technology leaders like TikTok. “Dubai is focused on enhancing its media sector’s competitiveness through strategic collaborations. By partnering with leaders in new media, we aim to nurture local talent, integrate advanced expertise, and strengthen Dubai’s standing as a dynamic hub for media innovation,” he stated.
He added, “Our goal is to create an environment where creativity and media excellence thrive globally. These partnerships will support the UAE’s media talent and enterprises in keeping pace with industry advancements. Dubai, which has led the region’s media sector for over two decades, continues to be an exceptional base for global companies to drive innovation and explore new growth opportunities.”
In alignment with Dubai’s strategy to foster knowledge exchange in media and content creation, the Dubai Press Club (DPC) is set to host a roundtable discussion tomorrow. Led by TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, the session, titled Shaping the Future of Content Creation and Empowering Creativity, will bring together prominent content creators from the region to explore the evolving media landscape in the UAE.
TikTok, which established its regional base in Dubai in 2018, has seen significant growth across the MENA region, especially among younger audiences. The platform’s user base continues to expand rapidly, reflecting strong acceptance and dynamic engagement within the market.
The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council (DMC); His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council; Emir Gelen, Director of Public Policy for METAPSA at TikTok; and Jenan Mohamed Alhashili, Head of Public Policy for the GCC at TikTok.
