Cairo, Feb. 16 (BNA): Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Egypt, and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, today participated in the permanent delegate-level session of the Arab League Council meeting with Lula da Silva, the Brazilian President.
President Lula da Silva expressed his country’s pride in its relations with Arab countries, noting that Brazil was the first Latin American country to receive an observer status in the Arab League.
He indicated that the strength of the Brazilian-Arab relations is reflected in the volume of their bilateral trade, valued at $30 billion in 2023.
He pointed out that his country will host the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2025, in addition to the next BRICS Summit, with the participation of three Arab countries: Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The Brazilian President expressed deep concern over the situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the Arab Peace Initiative is the best means to achieve peace in the region.
