Emiratos Árabes y Perú inician negociaciones para acuerdo comercial

Emiratos Árabes y Perú inician negociaciones para acuerdo comercial

Perú y Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU) acordaron iniciar negociaciones en los próximos meses para alcanzar un acuerdo comercial, según el Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (Mincetur) del país sudamericano.

El ministro de Comercio Exterior y Turismo peruano, Juan Carlos Mathews, participa en la 13 Conferencia Ministerial de la Organización Mundial de Comercio (OMC), que se realiza en Abu Dhabi, capital de EAU.

Al iniciar la agenda de trabajo, el ministro peruano sostuvo una reunión con el ministro de Comercio de Emiratos Árabes, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, quien también es presidente de la 13 Conferencia Ministerial de la OMC.

En la cita se reiteró el compromiso de Perú con el sistema multilateral de comercio, y con los logros en materia de subvenciones a la pesca, reforma comercial agrícola, comercio electrónico, reforma de la OMC, entre otros.

En ese contexto, los ministros acordaron iniciar negociaciones en los próximos meses para alcanzar un acuerdo comercial.

EAU es el principal socio comercial de Perú en Oriente Medio , y representa un mercado de 9,4 millones de potenciales consumidores, según Mincetur.

EAU tiene un PBI per capita de 52.000, dólares sostuvo Mincetur.

Este país importa el 90% de sus necesidades alimenticias, lo cual representa grandes oportunidades para las exportaciones peruanas, en especial del sector agrícola, destacó el Ministerio.
